Resources for Researchers

External HPC Resources

Do you have computational research needs that exceed the capacity of the Roar supercomputer? Request an allocation on one of these external high-performance computers.

Blue Waters

Penn State is a member of Great Lakes Consortium for Petascale Computing. Penn State faculty are eligible to apply for time on The National Center for Supercomputing Applications’ Blue Waters supercomputer. Get more information on accessing Blue Waters through GLCPC.

ACCESS

You can also apply for an allocation on ACCESS (formerly XSEDE)—a nationwide linked cyberinfrastructure of high-performance computing systems. Learn more about getting started with ACCESS.

Our XSEDE Campus Champions, Diego Menéndez and Jeff Nucciarone are happy to answer your questions and help you use XSEDE.

Department of Energy INCITE Program

The U.S. Department of Energy offers allocations on national supercomputers through the Innovative and Novel Computational Impact on Theory and Experiment (INCITE) program. The program supports large-scale, computationally intensive projects that address “grand challenges” in science and engineering. Learn more about this program here.
