Social Data Analytics Workshop Series: Introduction to Data Science with R (August 31, 12 – 1 p.m., Sparks B001)
Do you want to develop the skills to program and manage data using R? If so, this workshop series is for you! We will be meeting (almost) weekly for an hour throughout the semester to cover everything from basic R programming up through big data analytics and high performance computing. This workshop series will start with several weeks introducing R and basic R programming, so no prior experience is required (only a laptop). The first session will provide a series overview and cover installing/setting up R and RStudio. Learn more about this series here.
SAMSI Program on Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Climate and the Earth System (August 21- 25, 2017, Hamner Conference Center, NC)
The Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute is holding a program to study the interrelations among climate data, climate models and impacts with a view towards projecting future climate change and its impact on Earth systems and the human population. The program runs August 1, 2017-May 31, 2018. An opening workshop will be held August 21-25 at the Hamner Conference Center in Research Triangle Park. The SAMSI program will also support up to six Postdoctoral fellowships. Read more about these opportunities here.
Neuroinformatics 2017 Conference (August 20-21, Kuala Lampur)
This congress of the international Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) provides a meeting place for researchers in all fields related to neuroinformatics. Join us for keynotes from top neuroscientists, community sessions and poster- and demo sessions. Early bird registration fees are available through July 2. Read more and register here.
