Advanced Computing in the College Classroom
Penn State faculty members may have the option to use ICS-ACI resources in their classrooms. Please contact your college IT department and ICS to determine whether resources are available to support your class.
You should also review our policies regarding use of ICS-ACI in your class. Students in your classes will sign up for accounts and list you as the faculty sponsor; this makes you responsible for their actions on the systems.
Here are the procedures and requirements for making ICS-ACI resources available to your class:
Create Accounts: ALL students will have to sign up for an account to use the ICS-ACI systems. To request an account, fill out the brief form at: https://accounts.aci.ics.psu.edu/users/.
Sign Up for 2FA: All accounts require the University’s Duo two-factor authentication for access. Follow the instructions here to sign up: http://identity.psu.edu/services/authentication-services/two-factor/self-service-portal/
Designate a Sponsor: Students must list their instructor as their sponsor when they request an account. As part of the verification process, the faculty member will receive an email notification for each account requested. This means that a faculty member who has 60 students will receive 60 individual emails. NOTE: These email notifications do not require a response. If we do not receive a response from the faculty member in 48 hours, your approval is implied, and the accounts will be created automatically.
If you would like your students’ accounts to be approved more quickly, forward the notification emails to email@example.com. The accounts will be created as our i-ASK Center team fields the request.
